Norma Large Hollingsworth, 93, of Tiger, GA, (and Asheboro, NC and Durham, NC) passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Nellie B. and H. Lee Large, MD of Rocky Mount, NC. She was predeceased by her husband Harry D. Hollingsworth, by a sister Janet L. Hawkins and a brother H. Lee Large, Jr., MD.
Norma is survived by two brothers, Nelson Large, DDS of Salisbury, NC and Harry Large, of Bethlehem, PA; her daughter, Lee Hollingsworth Berger and spouse Frederick A. Berger, MD of Franklin; her sons Harry D. Hollingsworth of Alpharetta, GA and D. Luther Hollingsworth and wife Linda S. Hollingsworth of Asheboro, NC; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norma was known for her gifts at the piano and organ keyboards and translated this gift into numerous organist positions in the Durham, NC area, as well as a preschool teacher at her home church; St. Luke’s Episcopal in Durham.
A memorial service will be held later in June when her cremains will be buried at St. Luke's along with her late husband.
The family requests no flowers; however, a memorial gift made be given to St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church, 84 Church Street, Franklin, NC 28734 or St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1737 Hillandale Road, Durham, NC 27705.
