Obituary for Grover Charles Clemmons

Grover  Charles  Clemmons
Grover Charles Clemmons, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 10, 2014.

Born in Springfield, OH, he was the son of the late Maurice Clemmons and Edith Vince Clemmons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Clemmons. Charlie was a US Coast Guard veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from GTE as a Software Engineer and worked as a 911 dispatcher in Marion County, FL. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, an avid baseball fan and loved fishing and golfing. Charlie was a very active member of his community; he coached little league baseball, delivered meals on wheels in Tampa, and was a volunteer at CareNet in Franklin. He was a member of First Christian Church where he served as an elder and teacher.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Clemmons; three children, David Clemmons and wife Annette of St, Louis, MO, Daniel Clemmons of Tampa, FL and Holly Clemmons and honorary daughter, Katharine Pastorius both of Lutz, FL; three grandchildren, Melanie, Erica and Cody; three great grandchildren, Juan, Jaime and Daniel and a niece, Jennifer Brown.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 15th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Henry Puckett and Richard Marshall will officiate.
Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with full military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be David Clemmons, Daniel Clemmons, Wise Harden, Clayton Marshall, Charles Greenwood, Herm DeLawter, Bill Donaldson and Matt Kolodzik. David Marshall, Dean Andring, Ken Plank, Al Pribble, Mike Townsend and Ron Kolodzik will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Angel Hospice General Fund, 170 Church Street, Franklin, NC or American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park Bldg. 1, Asheville, NC 28801.

The family wishes to express their sincerest thanks to their church family, Angel Hospice and the staff at Angel Medical Center for showing such great love, compassion and support during this difficult time.
