Obituary for James Laurance Westcott

James Laurance Westcott, Sr., 94, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014.

Born in Chattanooga, TN, he was the son of the late Milton Clark Westcott and Ida Mildred Cornelius Westcott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Sue Payne Westcott; his second wife, Marian Gaines Westcott and brother, Nelson Cornelius Westcott. James was a US Marine Corps veteran with two purple hearts and served during WWII in Okinawa, Japan. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a piano tuner.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Stuart and husband Dabney of Lexington, VA; two sons, Gary Westcott and wife Carol of Signal Mtn, TN and James Laurance Westcott, Jr. and wife Sadie of Lancaster, SC; step-daughter, Janie Ensley and husband Eric of Franklin; nine grandchildren, Thomas Vinson, Stanford Vinson, Gary Westcott, Kimberly Westcott, John Westcott, Brandi Westcott, Holly Elizabeth Lane, LeighAnn Smith and Barry Marvin; and eleven great grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to one’s favorite charity.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
