Marilyn Elenbaas Stamey, 74, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 4, 2014.
Born in Yakima County, Washington, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Margaret Elenbaas of Granger, Washington. She and Fred were married in Zillah, Washington in 1959. She moved to Herndon, VA, shortly after their marriage. She was office manager for Ogden Aviation Services, Dulles International Airport for 30 years. After Fred’s retirement from the military in 1972, they moved to Hamilton, VA. Marilyn was also a certified color consultant, “Over the Rainbow”, which she operated from her home.
She moved to Macon County in 1992, Fred’s home. Marilyn was secretary of her church, Trinity Assembly of God from 1995 to 2010.
She loved her flower gardens, especially her roses. She also enjoyed making crafts, knitting, weaving, and designing cards. Her most enjoyment came from attending bible studies and prayer meetings.
She is survived by her husband Fred of 57 years, one daughter, Camille Tuttrup of Franklin and two grandsons, Ashton and Leland Shockley. Also surviving is one brother, James Elenbaas of Granger, Washington, and two sisters, Elaine Sawyer of New Gloucester, Maine and Judy Polinder of Lynden, Washington; brother and sister in-laws, Gene and Jean Stamey and Hazel Stamey all of Franklin, NC and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 11, at Trinity Assembly of God. Pastor J.D. Watson will officiate. Burial will be in the Higdonville Baptist Church Cemetery.
