Douglas Gerald Hoot, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Margaret “Marge”; son, Timothy Hoot of Lansing, Michigan; daughter and son-in-law, Russell and Michelle VanNortwick and their two children, Shannon and Russell of Perry, Michigan and son, Terry Hoot of Lansing, Michigan and his two children, Sarah and Anna. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Sue Ann Price of Perry, Michigan and very special friends, Sonny and Mildred Wallace, Dave and Judy Hurd and Donnie Wallace, who meant the world to him. Doug was predeceased by parents, Harlen and Helene Hoot; sister, Patricia and brother, David and Terry.
Doug retired from General Motors in Lansing, Michigan in June of 1991 and had worked as a journeyman machine repairman and also served on UAW Local 1753 for many years. Doug is a member of Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church and had served on the Administrative Board and Board of Trustees and also enjoyed cooking for the monthly church socials. He has been a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1975 and is currently a member of the Junaluskee Masonic Lodge 145 and is also a member of the Oasis Shriners.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13th at Louisa Chapel UMC Cemetery. Masonic rites will be conducted by Junaluskee Lodge 145.
