Betty Jean Shope, 82, of Otto, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015.

Born in Grenada, MS, she was the daughter of the late Richard C. Smith and Effie Louise Clark Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by grandson, Michael J. Shope; sister, Louise Shotts and brothers, Curtis, Wilson, Albert and Fred Smith. Betty loved birds, flowers, reading and shopping. She was a member of Coweeta Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edd Lake Shope; two children, Edd W. Shope and wife Tamma of Raleigh, NC and Donna Ruth Shope of Winder, GA; two grandchildren, Madison E. Shope of Raleigh, NC and Taylor M. Shope of Winder, GA and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31st at Coweeta Baptist Church. Rev. Davis Hooper and Rev. Alton Dendy will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. Friday, January 30th at Macon Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Coweeta Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 780 Coweeta Church Rd. Otto, NC 28763.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
