Michael George  Grubermann Sr.
Michael George Grubermann, Sr., 71, of Franklin, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015.

Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late George Gruberman and Angeline Serio Gruberman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Grubermann. Mike graduated from Southern Illinois University with a fire service management degree. He was Fire Chief and Town Manager in University Park, IL; Town Manager in Monee, IL and Town Planner in Franklin, NC. Mike was a member of the Rotary Club Franklin; he served on the board at Habitat for Humanity, T.D.A. and T.D.C. and also served on the Fire Service curriculum board at S.I.U. and was a conductor for the Smoky Mountain Railway.

He is survived by his wife Connie Barnhill Grubermann; three children, Michael Grubermann, Jr. of Richton Park, IL, Christopher Miller of Arlington Heights, IL and Claudia Speer of Billings, MO; one brother, George Gruberman of Willow Springs, IL and 13 grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the Franklin Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Angel Cancer Center (Angel Foundation-Attention: Don Capaforte, 120 Riverview Street, Franklin, NC 28734 or Angel Hospice, 170 Church Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
