Roy R. Guest, Sr., 89, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015.
Born in Macon Co, he was the son of the late James William Guest and Fannie Kinsland Guest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Wilmer Guest, Wiley Guest, Warren Guest and Claude Guest. Roy was a US Navy veteran and served during WWII and the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Junaluskee Masonic Lodge #145, former member of VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108, he loved to garden and enjoyed ginseng hunting. Roy was a member of Watauga Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Jean Brendle Guest; two children, Roger Guest and wife Barbara and Rhonda Guest Blanton and husband Rick both of Franklin; sister, Margaret Street of Collinsville, AL; two grandchildren, Russell Joel Blanton and wife Kristi and Seth Aaron Guest and wife Heather both of Franklin, and three great granddaughters, Addie and Averie Guest and Natalie Blanton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 30th at Watauga Baptist Church. Rev. Wesley Price, Rev. David Lee Williams and Rev. Davis Hooper will officiate with Junaluskee Lodge #145 performing masonic rites and VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108 performing military rites. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29th at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mick Mason, Jerry Elders, Ben West, Gerald Fouts, Roger Sanders and Ernie Brendle.
