Obituary for Patricia Hamilton "Tricia" Mack (Kilpatrick)
Rev. Patricia (Tricia) Kilpatrick Hamilton Mack of Franklin, NC passed away at home on June 20, 2016.
Daughter of R. A. Kilpatrick and Esther Krohn Kilpatrick. Born October 27, 1943 in West Palm Beach, FL. She grew up in Florida, Oklahoma, Illinois, Wisconsin, Mississippi and New Hampshire. In her adult years she also lived in Michigan, Florida, Missouri, Virginia and North Carolina.
She graduated from University of New Hampshire, Class of 1965, BA in Elementary Education and taught in the Dover, NH school system.
She married P. Stephen Hamilton in 1964 spending 25 years with him in the Detroit area. She was a loving and devoted mom to two wonderful boys, Sean and Brian; proud to be the scorekeeper for their little league baseball teams. In additional to being a full time mom, she was a professional volunteer at the boys’ schools, Hospice and many other civic organizations.
She attended the Unity School of Christianity, Lees Summit, MO from 1998 – 2000 where she became an ordained minister.
She married Daniel George Mack in 1999 and at last had her daughter, Lori.
She and Daniel spent 5 years in Fredericksburg, VA where they pioneered the Unity Church of Fredericksburg.
Following their time in Fredericksburg, she and Daniel spent 5 years traveling the US full time exploring the beauty of the Western National Parks fulfilling her love of nature and photography while looking for the “perfect” place to live.
In 2010, that perfect place was found to be Franklin, NC where she became an avid flower gardener taking great joy in creating and maintaining her Certified Natural Wildlife Habitat.
She was an enthusiastic daily jogger/walker for 40 years. In later years this was the perfect time to visit with friends and neighbors along the way.
She is predeceased by her father, R. A. Kilpatrick; mother, Esther Krohn Kilpatrick; and step-mother, Louise Carter Dix Kilpatrick.
She is survived by her husband Daniel; son, Sean (Karen), two beautiful granddaughters, Amanda and Rachel of Parker, CO and son, Brian (Sharon) of Aurora, CO; daughter, Lori (Jeffrey), of St. Pauls, NC and grandson, Ryan Aley of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by her step-brothers, Terry Dix of Valatie, NY and Ted Dix, of Austin, TX; and her former husband, Steve Hamilton, of Hiawassee, GA.
Tricia’s sweet spirit and heart full of love and compassion touched many around the country and as one dear friend shared with her shortly before her passing, she will be remembered by many as “my passing angel”.
