Obituary for Roy Henson

Roy  Henson
Roy Clifton Henson, 72, of Otto, passed away, Saturday, September 24, 2016.

Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late James Moore Henson and Robie Mae English Henson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Henson and three sisters, Bill Jenkins, Barbara Woody and Bertha Mae Henson. Roy was a U.S. Army veteran and owner of Tylers for 35 years. He was a member of Coweeta Baptist Church serving as trustee and usher. Roy was a charter member of Otto Volunteer Fire Department, where he was the first chief and served for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wanda Tyler Henson; daughter, Audrey Calais and husband John of Irmo, SC; son, Tony Henson and wife Robin of Wake Forest, NC; brother, Charlie “Sam” Henson of Jenkinsburg, GA; four grandchildren, Shelby, Sam, Gabriel and Micah; special niece, Brandi Patton; special great niece and nephew, Ruck Patton and Blake Patton and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 27th at Coweeta Baptist Church. Rev. Davis Hooper and Chaplain Bill Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, at Coweeta Baptist Church.

Members of the Otto Volunteer Fire Department will serve as Pallbearers. Charter members of the Otto Volunteer Fire Department will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Otto Volunteer Fire Department or Coweeta Baptist Church Building Fund.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
