Jack and Dorothy Vaughan, of Franklin, passed away just one day apart, with Dorothy passing on January 8, and Jack passing on January 9, 2017.
Jack was born in Atlanta, GA; he was the son of the late Jack Robinson Vaughan, Sr. and Kathleen Collinsworth Vaughan. In addition to his parents and wife Dorothy, Jack was preceded in death by his son-in law, Keith NeSmith who died on January 8, 2017. Jack was a US Navy veteran and owner of an Atlanta metal fabricating company. He and Dorothy were members of First Baptist Church of Franklin, NC.
Dorothy was born in Monroe County, AL; she was the daughter of the late Osborne Crook and Laura Cowan Crook. In addition to her parents and son-in law, she was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Dorothy and Jack were married on September 6, 1946 and spent 70 wonderful years of marriage together.
They are survived by two children, Jack R. Vaughan, III of Flowery Branch, GA (Beth) and Laura Kathleen “Kay” NeSmith of Clayton, GA; three grandchildren, Leslye Ryan, Meredith Ledbetter, and Lauren Croom and two great grandchildren, Ezra James Ryan and Charlotte Mae Ledbetter.
A Memorial Service for both Dorothy and Jack will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 18, at First Baptist Church. Dr. Robert Brown will officiate.
