Obituary for David Thad DeHart
David Thad DeHart, 77, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017.
Born in Swain County, he was the son of the late Raleigh Russell DeHart and Maude C. McMahan DeHart. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. David was a U.S. Army and National Guard veteran. He was a member and head usher at Prentiss Church of God. He loved reading and building things.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Josephine Ledford DeHart; son, Kelvin DeHart of Franklin; two step children, Darlene Crisp Hodgin and Gregory Thomas Crisp both of Franklin; adopted daughter, Wanda Lou Pritchett of Franklin; one brother, Jack R. DeHart of Oregon; sister, Blanche V. Mosteller of Washington; one grandson; one step grandchild; one step great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at Prentiss Church of God. Rev. Kevin Chapman and Rev. Don Moffitt will officiate. Burial will be in the Prentiss Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Buster Tallent, Curtis Blackwell, Harley McConnell, Steve Wilson, Jerry Strawder and Terry Moffitt. Ushers of Prentiss Church of God will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
