Obituary for Joseph Boyd Tallent

Joseph Boyd Tallent
Joseph Boyd Tallent, age 78, of Arvil Guyer Rd., Franklin, NC took flight to be with Jesus on Sunday, June 4, 2017. A native of Macon County, he was born to Joseph Stevenson and Ruth Adeline Guyer Tallent in the Iotla community. Later in life, Boyd built his own home in the same community with his wife, Frances Jones Tallent, and daughter, Conda Tallent Parris. He was a lifetime member of Iotla Baptist Church.
Boyd was preceded in death by two brothers, James Marshall Tallent and Paul Claude Tallent; and one sister, Gladys Tallent Bateman.
Surviving is his wife, Frances; daughter, Conda, and her husband Bruce of Chesnee, SC; his two wonderful grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart- his granddaughter, Haley Staack, and her husband, Branden, of Church Hill, TN; and his grandson, Bo Parris, of Chesnee, SC.
He is also survived by his brother, Lewis "Pot" Tallent, and his wife June, of Boise, ID, and sister, Sheila Fouts, and her husband, Eddie, of Canton, NC. His sense of humor will be remembered by his many nephews and nieces. The laughter that he ignited will be in their hearts always.
Boyd's life passion was to serve people; once co-owning the Normandie Restaurant, and then owning his own restaurants, Boyd's Restaurant on 441 S., and Boyd's Country Kitchen in Otto, NC. In his last retirement, he was employed with Macon County Transit.

Boyd served in the US Army for two years in Korea, and then was called back a year later for the Berlin Crisis.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 6, 2017, from 6:00 PM until, at Macon Funeral Home.
Service will be Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at 11:00 AM, at Iotla Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbeares are: Gary Fouts, Steve Tallent, Dearl Ledford, Leonard Guyer, Don Hardy, Paul Shuler, Johnny Kiser, and Mike Arnold.
His family would like to thank Hospice Care for taking such good care of him during his last days with us.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and the American Cancer Society.
