Condolence: This is March 15th 2019, I haven’t seen Billy in yrs, but carry his smile and kindness in my heart. Last night I had a dream and Billy was in it. We were in a store and he purchased old stamps from cashier. Then he and I were looking at a newspaper called ‘The Encounter’. There were pictures of ancient Indians and I looked at the date of paper and it was 1946. Thought about this all day, just googled his name and saw his obituary. God bless you Billy. Your friend. Got you in my pocket.

Condolence:

I was really saddened to hear of the passing of my friend, Billy. I'll always remember us playing at the Battle of the Bands in Waynesville in 1971. We packed all our amps, guitars, and girlfriends in his Ford Econoline hippy van and headed to do rock and roll battle. Billy played bass, Steve played key boards, Zan played drums, and I played guitar. I also enjoyed when my wife, Janice, and I would go back to the mountains at Western Carolina to visit and play music with Billy, Steve, and the gang. Billy was liked by all who met him with his smile, wit, and musical ability. I'll miss you my friend and brother. Rest In Peace and keep playing in the new band in the sky.
Love,
Calvin and Janice

Condolence: So sorry to hear of Billy's passing. Even though our paths have not crossed in many years, hearing of Billy's passing brings back many memories of our "Cowee School" days. We were all just one happy family; and, those are the memories we cherish. Our deepest sympathy to all of the family. Jan Shepherd Yonce

Condolence: Oh my! This is crushing news of an irreparable loss which I didn't receive until this morning (06/22/17). Billy wasn't just my friend but my brother. We were friends and band mates through high school and college, and room mates for many years. In addition to rock we both loved Americana and last performed together in a series of his cousin Gary Cardin's Liars Bench shows. I moved to Asheville to be with my son and daughter two years ago and briefly lost contact with Billy but never imagined we had played our last song togather. In all the years we were together not one angry word passed between us. He saw me at my worst as few people ever have but never withdrew his help, support, and friendship. I loved him more than words can express. If Charlene or Suzie or any of the old gang sees this post please contact me at 828-747-0701 and update me.
