Glenn “Rusty” Hunter Waldroop, 90, of Franklin, passed away on July 8, 2015.
Born in Macon County, NC, he was the son of the late Grady H. Waldroop and Nannie Battles Waldroop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Sayler, three brothers (Siler, Quintin and Bob) and three sisters (Belva, Ethel and Katherine). Rusty was a US Navy veteran, served during WWII on a destroyer escort and a past member of the VFW. He retired from the Ford Motor Company after 40 years of service and greatly enjoyed Detroit politics, reading and making music. Rusty performed for more than 50 years with various bands and was a past member of the UAW and the Maidens Chapel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by children William (Sue) Waldroop of Detroit, Helene “Sam” Shenkus of Hawaii and Glenda (Bruce) Constante of Detroit; three brothers, Wendell (Shirley) Waldroop of Franklin, Howard (Betty) Waldroop and Mickey (Charlene) Waldroop both of Georgia; one grandchild, Quinn (Kim) Constante of Roseville, MI, two great grandchildren (Zoe and Liam) and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for both Glenn and his wife, Edna on Wednesday, September 9th at 11:00am in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Reverend Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in Maidens Chapel UMC Cemetery.
