Obituary for William F. Normoyle

William F.  Normoyle
William F. Normoyle, 76, of Camillus, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Francis House after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Syracuse on Friday, October 23, 1931, he was the son of Joseph Patrick Normoyle and Eileen Tangney Normoyle. He lived in Camillus since 1958.

Bill was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary School, LeMoyne College and was a Korean War Air Force veteran. He was a real estate professional for 50 years and was the proud founder and president of Normoyle Real Estate. During his career, he served three terms as 3rd Ward Camillus Town Councilman and was instrumental in establishing the Shove Park Recreational Facility. Bill was also a member of the Camillus Democratic Committee and was a member of the Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors and the New York State Association of Realtors. He was a founding member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Camillus Division. He enjoyed raising funds for the needy with the Old Newsboys.

Bill was also a founding member of the Dr. Tom Dooley Choraliers. He was an avid student of history, especially of his Irish heritage. He was a member of the James Joyce Club, IACI Club, the Camillus Historical Society, and was past editor of the Hibernian Herald. He belonged to the American Legion and was a former Boy Scout Troop Committee member. A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, he was also a member with continuous attendance of the Nocturnal Adoration Society at Holy Family Church. Bill was an avid S.U. sports fan, and enjoyed West Genesee sports and the Marching Band.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Anne Flanagan; daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen and John Demers of Albany, Kathleen and Brian Connolly of Cumberland, Rhode Island and Eileen and Jim Cebeniak of Onondaga Hill; sons and daughters-in-law, William F. and Cheryl Normoyle Jr. of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, Michael Normoyle and Brian and Lynn Normoyle, all of Camillus; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Rita Normoyle of Clay and grandchildren, Kalin, Brent, Matthew, Sean, Kerry, Patrick, Lauren, Clare and Maeve; and nephews, Thomas and Dennis.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Camillus where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Friday, April 4, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
