A Life Saved
On November 11, 1987, a state trooper drove upon a car accident that had just transpired. This trooper was C.D. Jenkins. Now, CD has been a long time family friend with my grandfather, and he started getting in touch with the family once he realized who was in the accident. The duration of getting my passenger and myself to the hospital was at least one hour to one hour and a half. Upon arrival, the severity of my injuries were unknown and the hospital staff began to take X-Rays. Of course, at that time, I did not have a family doctor and the doctor on duty was reviewing the X-rays but did not notice the fluctuation of the blood in my chest, and was going to put me into a room for observation. CD, being a former EMT, looked at these X-rays and brought it to the attention of the doctor. Once they realized there was internal bleeding, the ball started rolling and MAMA was called in to fly me to Asheville for open heart surgery. I have never forgotten what your dad has done for me and my family. He literally saved my life. My heart is hurting for all of you. He was a good man, someone to be very proud of, and I hope God helps to provide peace during this time. My entire family loved CD Jenkins and we will never forget what he has done for us. God Bless you all
